Tuesday's Tips

Catch up on current events.
Many of us get so caught up in our everyday lives that we sometimes miss out on what's going on in the world around us. I know this is especially true for those of us at home, as being home all day can be very isolating. When we turn on the TV, it's usually to watch some sing-songy kids show and most of us don't have a quiet moment to read the paper or browse headlines on the internet. But it's important to know what's going on out there. At least to a certain extent.

I find I often turn off the news when my attempt to catch up on things is just hearing the same old stories over and over (rising gas prices, the mortgage crisis, the world is going to crap, etc.). I try to watch the local news but it's more of the same (teenagers being murdered, houses on fire, gang activity, commuter woes). So I like to be "in the know" but it's also really depressing sometimes. But today is a day to catch up on current events, so turn on the TV, go to your favorite news website, or pick up a paper. Find out what's going on out there. If nothing else, it will give you something to talk about the next time you find yourself in an awkward silence on the elevator.
